Carl L. Jaggers, 88, Munfordville, passed away Monday January 28, 2013 at Jewish Hospital in Louisville. He was a Hart County native and was the Owner-Operator of Carl's Auto Service in Munfordville for 46 years and a Mechanic for 66 years. He was a Member and Former Deacon at Munfordville Baptist Church and enjoyed Yardwork and Gardening. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dellard Lee Jaggers and Evelyn Witherspoon Jaggers and by his wife Gladys Jaggers in 2009.

Carole “Patty” Johnson, 60, Harrodsburg, KY, formerly of Cave City, died Friday, January 25, 2013 in Harrodsburg. She was the daughter of the late Harold and Laura Norvelle Johnson.
She is survived by her daughter: Marta Lea Gardner; two grandsons: Jared Kyle Ray and Broderik Thomas Huttinger; her companion Bobby Robinson.

The family has chosen cremation with a memorial service and burial in the Cave City to be held at a later date. Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Mary E. Dunbar, 80, Glasgow died Friday January 18, 2013 at Saint Thomas Hospital in Nashville, TN. She was born in Monroe County the daughter of the late Mosie Sherfey and Neva Burks Sherfey. Mrs. Dunbar was a homemaker and member of the South Green Church of Christ.

Survivors include her husband Ralph Dunbar of Glasgow; two daughters Debbie Toms (Dennis) of Glasgow & Donna Beard (Steve) of Bowling Green; one son Barry Dunbar (April) of Glasgow; six grandchildren David Matthews (Tiffany) of Edmonton, Justin Matthews (Jennifer) of IL, Jeremy Beard (Sherri) of Bowling Green, Dustin Beard (Chenoa) of Lexington & Kaley and Mason Dunbar both of Glasgow; five great grandchildren Alexis, Hunter,  Kaitlyn Matthews and Avery & Keelan Beard.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by two half brothers Roger Burks & Paul Sherfey.

CAROLYN TERRY HARE
Carolyn Terry Hare, 78, passed away Saturday, January 19, 2013 at her home near Horse Cave. The Barren County native was the daughter of William S. Terry, Jr. and Frances Cheaney who preceded her in death. She was the granddaughter of William S. Terry, Sr. and Caroline T. Smith of Barren County, and Herbert M. and Georgia Ann Lester Cheaney of Henderson, Kentucky, She was born at Oakwood Farm on January 22, 1934. She was a proud Alumnae of the University of Kentucky, having graduated in 1957. She was an educator in the Hart County School System for 32 years, having taught at Hart Memorial High School and Munfordville High School for 10 years and served as Instructional Supervisor for the system for 22 years. She was a member of the Hart County Retired Teachers Association and a former member of the Ladies Matinee Musicale, the Business and Professional Women's Club, and several professional organizations. She was a life-long member of the Christian Church and at the time of her death was a member of the Horse Cave Christian Church where she was a volunteer for the Clothes Closet Mission Project.

She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Elvin R. Hare, Horse Cave ; her brother, William S. Terry, III,  Bear Wallow, her nephew, W. Samuel Terry, IV, Glasgow, She is also survived by two cousins, Peggy Cheaney Mays, Henderson and Thomas M.Cheaney, Louisville.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday January 22, 2013 in the Chapel of Winn Funeral Home. Burial followed in the Horse Cave Municipal Cemetery. Winn Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Ellis Elmer Hogan, 90, Horse Cave, passed away in Cave City on Wednesday, January 09, 2013. The Cave City native was the son of the late Robert and Ruby Poynter Hogan. He was a farmer and member of the Cave City Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Bertha Gossett Hogan, Cave City; two sons, Tony Lynn Hogan, Glasgow, Ellis Gary Hogan, Cave City; a daughter, Pamela Ann Burnett, Indianapolis; a brother, Wesley Hogan (Elsie), Cave City; a sister, Jessell Isenberg (Earl), Poca, OK; thirteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Laura Lee Ford, 53, Clarkson, formerly of Munfordville, passed away, Thursday, January 3, 2013 at the Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center in Leitchfield.  She was a caregiver.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Amanda Ford, her parents, Carol Joseph and Carolyn Petz Hagan, and a sister, Colleen Hagan.

She is survived by a daughter, Stephanie (Barry) Turner, Munfordville, a son, Joshua Ford, Munfordville, her fiance, Mike Gussler, Clarkson, two sisters, Teresa (Thomas) Chapman and Melissa Hagan, all of Louisville, a brother, Buddy (Beth) Hagan of Louisville, and four grandchildren, Hunter Turner, Lailynn Litsey, Nevaeh Turner, and Jayden Litsey.

RONALD EUGENE MORTIMER
Glasgow - Ret. CWO2 Ronald Eugene Mortimer, 75, Glasgow died Friday, January 4, 2013 at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital. He was born August 26, 1937 in Kane, PA, the son of the late Sgt. Maj. George and Ruth Mortimer. He married his high school sweetheart, Margaret Morgan and they celebrated 54 years of marriage in December.

After high school Ronald joined the Army in 1954 and served for 21 years. He served in the Vietnam War as a helicopter pilot and was the recipient of many awards including Air Medal-25, Army Aviator Badge, Army Commendation Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with Silver Service Star, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. He retired in 1975, achieving the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 2nd Class. After retirement Mr. Mortimer continued his flying career here in Glasgow for Southern Explosives. Later he retired from Wininger Oil Company. He was an avid member of the YMCA.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret; his son, Jimmy (Beverly) Mortimer; his daughter, Kellie (Kevin) Patterson, all of Glasgow; brothers, Lance Mortimer, Virginia and Ted Mortimer, New York; his grandchildren, Jimmy Ray Mortimer II, New York, NY, Quinn Patterson, Glasgow, Allison (Andy) Mello, Brownsville and Adam (LeAnn) Brown, Bowling Green; great grandchildren, Gavin and Shelby Brown and several other relatives.

Funeral services were held 1:00 PM Monday, January 7, 2013 at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home. Burial with military honors was in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery.

Dorothy Sue Stonerock, 64, Glasgow died Monday, January 7, 2013 at the Glasgow Health & Rehab Center. Born in Glasgow she was the daughter of the late Bill & Mildred Webb Crabtree and wife of the late Steve Stonerock.

Survivors include her children Paula Jones of Hoopeston, IL, Bobby Jones (Nancy) of Henning, IL, Joy Wilson (Wayne) of Glasgow, Andrea Buford (Brian) of Glasgow and Keslie Stonerock of Glasgow; a sister Charlotte Totton (Steve) of Camden, MO; grandchildren Michelle Diaz, Rory Kempen, Josh Kempen, Samantha Jones, Chelsea Jones, Megan, James, Connor & Maggie Wilson, Jaylen Stonerock, Steven Buford and Joseph Stonerock; great grandchildren Eliana Howie and Sid Diaz; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by 2 brothers Joe & Tommy Lee Crabtree.

Glasgow - Wilmer (Bill) Henry Peil, 91 Glasgow, came to rest on December 24, 2012. He had resided at Highland Ridge Assisted Living and then was cared for at Barren County Healthcare until he expired.
He will be buried beside his wife in the Halverson Cemetery in Menomonie, Wisconsin later this year. There are no plans at this time for services locally. Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.

Ruth Aylene Carpenter, 60, Bowling Green, KY died Saturday, December 15, 2012 at The Medical Center @ Bowling Green.  Born in Glasgow she was preceded in death by her parents Ramzey McCawley and Mary Ruth Meadows Barrick.  Mrs. Carpenter was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband Ivan Carpenter of Bowling Green; two daughters Tina Glass of Glasgow and Shannon Brown of Frankfort; two sons David Shane Kidd of Bowling Green and Bradley Carpenter of Cave City; a brother Edgar McCawley of Glasgow; three grandchildren Gavyn Scott, Seth Glass and Daily Grace Ray and a great grandson Chase Morgan Roddy also survives.  In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by a granddaughter Ciara Taylor.

Glasgow - Jackie Allen Coulter, 53, Glasgow died “12-12-12” at his home.  He was born in Glasgow and was an employee of Dickerson Lumber Co.  Jackie was a U.S. Army Veteran and a member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at Sulphur Well.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Debbie Coulter; his four children, Mandy Mohow, Glasgow, Katie (Chucky) Green, Taylor Coulter and Wesley Coulter all of Edmonton; a sister, Connie Wheeler, Glasgow; his mother, Juanita Coulter, Clarksville, TN, two brothers, Steve (Jennifer) Coulter, Clarksville, TN, and John Coulter, Glasgow; five nieces; one nephew; a special friend, Gary Taylor; the lights of his life, his grandchildren, Brooklyn and Wyatt Green and his mother and father-in-law, Robert and Norma Vance, Glasgow.  He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Coulter; paternal grandparents, Hascal and Ethel Coulter; maternal grandparents, Arthur and Lera Bell Shaw and a nephew, Corey Wilson.

Billy Forbis Crump, 91, Munfordville passed away at 5am Friday at the Glasgow Health Care Facility.   She was a former employee of Clark Drugs and a member of the Munfordville First Presbyterian Church.

Blanche Larimore, 98, Horse Cave passed away at 4:10 a.m. Saturday morning December 1, 2012 at the Caverna Memorial Hospital. She was a native of Hart County and a member of the Horse Cave Baptist Church, she was also a former longtime member of the Third Avenue Baptist Church in Louisville.

She was preceded in death by her husband Dr. Leon Larimore on November 8, 2004, her parents, Ed and Rena Crain Lile, a brother, Carl Lile and two sisters, Lera Mouser and Bessie Barbour.

She is survived by her daughter, Marjorie Broady and her husband Levy, Horse Cave, her granddaughter, Debra Goodman and her husband Billy, Horse Cave, her great-grandson, Nicholas Goodman, Hilton Head Island South Carolina, her sister, Lovie Nell Mouser, Horse Cave and also by several nieces and nephews.

EWING PALMORE “DOC” KINGREY
Ewing Palmore “Doc” Kingrey, 71, Glasgow died Saturday, December 1, 2012 at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital.  Born in Barren Co. he was the son of the late Rad & Frances Crowe Kingrey and husband of the late Barbara Combs Kingrey.  Mr. Kingrey was a member of the Dover Baptist Church and a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the U. S. Army.

Survivors include two brothers Paris Kingrey (Betty) of Glasgow and Curtis Kingrey (Dorothy) of Louisville; a companion Lorraine Kingrey of Glasgow; a granddaughter Whitney Reid of Glasgow; a great grandson A. J. Reid of Glasgow; several nieces and nephews also survive.  In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by a daughter Penny McCluskey and a great grandchild Kaitlin Reid.

Roger Romines, 57, Columbia, passed away Friday, November 30, 2012 at the Hardin Memorial Hospital, Elizabethtown, after several months’ illness. Danny Ray Srygler, 48, Bonnieville passed away at 1:50pm Friday, November 30 at his home.  He was a former employee of Louisville Bedding Co. and a member of the Concord Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife-Joy; A son-Jacob at home; Parents-Donald & Irene Srygler, Bonnieville; Brother-Donald Dewayne Srygler & wife Debbie, Bonnieville; Sister-Peggy Richards & hus. Jerry, Bonnieville;

He was preceded in death by an infant brother-William Thomas Srygler and his mother-in-law-Dollie Constant.

Horse Cave - Jamie Tapscott, 28, Horse Cave passed away Monday November 26, 2012 at her home. She was born in Glasgow and was a cashier at the Cave City Dollar General Store. She loved fishing and music. She was preceded in death by her paternal great-grandmother, Nora West and her paternal grandmother, Frankie Isbell.

She is survived by three children, Haylie Jo Horton, Christopher Wayne Horton and Jayden Walton Horton, all of Horse Cave; mother, Missy Jewell, Horse Cave; father, Parry Tapscott, Horse Cave; paternal grandmother, Molly Sexton, Horse Cave and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Aaron Jay McCoy, 19, Glasgow died Saturday November 24th as the result of injuries received in an auto accident in Barren County.  He was born in Glasgow the son of Sorida McCoy Sneed and Tim Sneed of Glasgow who survive.  Aaron was an employee at Big Moose’s BBQ and enjoyed dirt bikes and trail riding. 

In addition to his parents he is survived by a sister Cheyenne Sneed of Glasgow; two brothers Devin Ray of Glasgow and Timothy Sneed of Bowling Green; Grandparents Betty Sue Tarry, Wayne (Rosemary) McCoy all of Glasgow and Jimmy and Regina Sneed of Bowling Green; great grandmother Opal Lawson of Glasgow; Aunts Joy Cartwright (Dan) of Glasgow and Wanda Sneed of Bowling Green; Uncles Jason McCoy of Glasgow and Lonnie Sneed (Cookie) of Bowling Green and his special cousins Katie Fields, Hannah McCoy and Dallen McCoy.  He was preceded in death by a cousin Corey Ray Rich and an Uncle Jimmy Sneed.

DUSTIN “DOROD” PARRISH
Dustin “Dorod” Parrish, 22, Glasgow died Saturday, November 24, 2012 from injuries sustained in an auto accident.  Born in Glasgow he is the son of Stacy Sue Frazier (Cecil) of Glasgow who survives.  Mr. Parrish was 2007 graduate of Barren Co. High School and veteran of the U. S. Army.

In addition to his mother he is survived by his wife Josephine Keene Parrish of Glasgow; two children Heath Anderson Parrish and Skyla Grace Parrish both at home; maternal grandmother Linda Parrish of Glasgow; three sisters Bridgett Mosier (Russ) of Horse Cave, Kelly Frazier and Bailey Frazier both of Glasgow; a brother Henry Crenshaw of Edmonton; a aunt Heather Todd (Mikey) of Glasgow; several nieces, great aunts, great uncles and friends also survive.  He was also preceded in death by his maternal grandfather Doyle Anderson “Hot Dog” Parrish.

RUTH ELIZABETH PIERCY RIGSBY
Ruth Elizabeth Piercy Rigsby, 92, Glasgow died Sunday, November 25, 2012 at Barren County Health Care.  The Barren County native was the daughter of the late Joseph Riley and Lena Bailey Piercy and was the wife of the late Basal William Rigsby. 

Mrs. Rigsby owned and operated Mema’s Day Care Nursery and Rigsby’s Greenhouse and she was also an accomplished needle artist.  She was a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church. 

She is survived by her daughter Gayle Steenbergen and husband Bobby of Glasgow; her son Harold Wayne Rigsby and wife Trish of Sparta, TN; five grandchildren Shahn Rigsby, Derron Steenbergen (Krista), Susan Rigsby, Laura Orsland (Eric) and Ginny Hensley (Drew); 11 great-grandchildren Logan, Lyn Dawsyn and Landry Steenbergen; Taylor, Grace and Ella Hagan, Reed, Hope and Anne Michael Hensley; and Frannie and Paul Rigsby-Tinch.  In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter Marita Joyce Rigsby, a brother Taylor Piercy and three sisters Edna Mauk, Pauline Thomas and Jocille Jones.

CHRISTOPHER ALLEN MANION
Christopher Allen Manion, 41, Louisville died Sunday, November 18th at T. J. Samson Community Hospital. He was born in Glasgow and was a 1989 graduate of Glasgow High School. He graduated in 1994 from WKU majoring in Chemistry and had been very active in the Baptist student union while at Western. He attended South East Christian Church in Louisville and was an avid runner, singer and actor, most recently appearing in the musical “Wicked” in Louisville. He was employed by AGRANA Fruit Products as their quality and food safety manager.

He is survived by his mother Elaine Manion, Bowling Green; father Benny Manion (Vickie), Glasgow; sisters Casey Edwards (Cory), Glasgow and Whitney Wilhelm (Paul), Scottsville; Grandmother Jean Cox, Glasgow; two  nieces Kinsey Edwards and Lori Ann Wilhelm; one nephew Kale Edwards and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Boyd and Elaine Manion and his maternal grandfather Allen Cox.

Funeral services were held at 11am Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home. Burial was in the Smith Cemetery at Sulphur Well


FRED DALE REEVES
Glasgow - Fred Dale Reeves, 80, died Monday, November 12, 2012. He was born on May 2, 1932 to the late Everett and Beatrice Curtis Reeves in Woodford County. Mr. Reeves was a Public Relations Advisor for Barren County Rural Electric and a Veteran of the United States Navy having served in the Korean War. He was a member and elder of First Christian Church in Glasgow. Mr. Reeves was the former President of the Rotary Club in Glasgow, a Kentucky Colonel, and a member of the Optimist Club being named Optimist of the Year in 1965. He was also the President of the Christian Fellowship at the University of Kentucky. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Betty Heinmiller Reeves. He is survived by his sisters, Lois Redden, Lawrenceburg, Eileen Congleton, Georgetown and Glenda Montgomery, Louisville; several nieces, nephews and cousins and a special friend, Martha Hurt, Glasgow. Graveside services were held Thursday, November 15, 2012 11:00 am at Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Clark Funeral Home in Versailles was in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Jeff D. Staples Jr., 84, Munfordville, passed away Friday, November 16, 2012, at T. J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow, KY. He was retired from Louisville Bedding Company and attended Wilkerson Temple United Methodist Church. He served in the Army during the Korean War.

He was the son of the late Jeff Staples and the late Mary Taylor Staples and husband to the late Geraldine Hudson Staples.

He is survived by one daughter: Sandra Renick, Pigeon Forge, TN; three sisters: Ann Logsdon (Gary), Hardyville, KY, Joyce Hockersmith, Louisville, KY, Helen Digh (Charlie), Lake Charles, LA; one brother: James "Jimmy" Staples (Betty), Munfordville, KY; one daughter in law, Jenny Staples, Munfordville; six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren; caregiver: Gloria "Ilene" Menchaca, Munfordville, KY.

Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son: Jeffery Alan Staples; one brother: John Lee "Sandy" Staples; two sisters: Geraldine "Gerry" Wilson and Gayle Hawkinberry.

Funeral service were held at 1:00 PM, Monday, November 19, 2012 at Brooks Funeral Home. Bro. Danny Sallee officiated. Interment was at Center Point Cemetery, Munfordville, KY.

She was born in Indiana, a member of the Cave City Church of Christ and retired after 37 years from the Mammoth Cave Garment Company. She was a loving and devoted Mother, Grandmother & Great-Grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil Bryant Jeffries & Lillian Taylor Jeffries, her husband Marvin T. Waters, four brothers, Garland, Charles, Marvin & Garrell Jeffries, two sisters, Elsie Lane & Glenna Todd & by 1 grandson, David Wayne Houk.

She is survived by two daughters, Martha Estes Houk (Charles), Horse Cave & Margaret Estes Thornsbury (Joseph), Virginia Beach VA.  Three grandchildren, Sarah Highbaugh, Judith Jones (Mark), Jeffrie Thornsbury (Christine). six great-grandchildren, Thaddeus Highbaugh, Lindsay Highbaugh, Katherine Jones, Quentin Jones, Elizabeth Jones & McKenna Thornsbury. one sister, Jewell Steed, Johnson City NY, one brother, William (Billy) Jeffries,  Horse Cave and also by neices, nephews and cousins.

He is survived by a brother, Ellis Carnahan (Sheila), Horse Cave; a sister,Barbara England, Glasgow and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Roy and Harold Carnahan and a sister, Louise Settles.

FRANK HENRY BOLIN
Frank Henry Bolin, Jr., 42, Cave City, died Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at the Medical Center at Bowling Green, KY. Born in Glasgow, KY he was the son of the late Frank Bolin and Lanney Simpson Bolin of Cave City, KY who survives, he was owner and operator of Bolin Fruit Market in Cave City.

In addition to his mother survivors include his wife Kerry Mullenhour Bolin, one son Devon Bolin at home; one brother Toby Bolin wife Angela of Horse Cave; two sisters Sharon Neal of Glasgow and Karen Bolin of Cave City; several nieces and nephews also survive.

A memorial service will be held at a later date for Mr. Bolin, cremation was chosen by his family. A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

KEITH BYBEE
Keith Bybee, 74, Glasgow, died Saturday November 3, 2012 peacefully at home after a long battle with cancer.  Born in Detroit, MI, he was a son of the late Willie and Rovene Fisher Bybee.  Keith was a former barber and an employee of Sorenson Mfg.  He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army during the Viet Nam War and was a member of the First Freewill Baptist Church at Pritchardsville.  He was a Master Mason and was also a commissioned Colonel on the Governors staff by the Governor of KY and twice Colonel on the Tennessee Governors staff.  Both commissions were for public service with his son Anthony “Tony” Bybee and grandson Dylan Bybee.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years Joanne Hodges Bybee; two sons Richard Bybee (Mandy) and Anthony Keith “Tony” Bybee; two daughters Martha Skaggs (Lynn) and Lesa Depp Defilippo (Aaron) all of Glasgow; four grandchildren Dylan Bybee, Weston Keith Depp, Sarah Skaggs and Samuel Keith Bybee all of Glasgow and two brothers Richard A. Bybee (Jean) of Glasgow and Ronald Bybee (Jane) of Scottsville. 

Funeral services will be held at 2pm Tuesday at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the White Cemetery with military honors provided by D.A.V. Chapter 20 of Glasgow.

She was the daughter of the late Sydney Edgar Witcher and the late Estella Isabella Tarry Witcher. Mrs. Baine was a homemaker, a member of the Caverna Chapter 252 Eastern Star and attended Bonnieville Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband William Marshall Baine of Bonnieville; two daughters Dora Maria Zierer of Bonnieville and Nancy Louise Baine Witcher & husband Edgar of Smith Grove; one brother Edgar Thomas Witcher of Smith Grove; two sisters Velma Louise Witcher Houchens & Lucy Jewell Witcher Lindsey both of Glasgow; five grandchildren, five great grandchildren & two great great grandchildren.

Robert “Bob” Ewing Mayfield, 84, Glasgow died Saturday October 27, 2012 at the NHC Healthcare Facility in Glasgow. He was born in Barren County the son of the late Jennings Mayfield and the late Ruby Mae Worthington Mayfield. Mr. Mayfield loved hunting and being outdoors. He was an Auto Mechanic for the Ford Motor Company in Long Beach, CA. and was a Veteran serving with the US Army during WWII and the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the South Green Church of Christ.
Survivors include his Wife Selma Pace Mayfield of Glasgow; nephew Carol Wayne Martin and wife Barbara of Danville, Ill. and several cousins also survive.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a sister Mae Bryan Martin.

George Arthur Gorby, 91, Glasgow died Sunday, October 21, 2012 at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital. Born in Illinois he was a son of the late Orrin and Blanche Jalageas Gorby. George retired after 26 years as an employee of Houchens Markets and had also owned and operated The Cobbler shoe repair shop. More recently he was an employee at K-Mart and enjoyed playing the guitar. He was a member of the First Christian Church.

Survivors include his sister Alice Gorby of Glasgow, nephews James Lee Gorby (Shannon) of Leitchfield and James Fowler (Deborah) of Florida and a niece Laura Jean McCoy (Danny) of Bowling Green. He was preceded in death by three brothers Sylvester Gorby, Tommy Gorby and James Bennett.

Evelyn Wright Houchens, 73, Glasgow died Sunday, October 21, 2012 at her home. She was born in Cumberland County the daughter of the late Otha Elvis Wright and Glenia Carey Wright. Evelyn was a homemaker and a former employee of Mallory and ACK. She was a member of the South Fork Baptist Church.
She is survived by a daughter Martha Morrison Newberry of Glasgow; two sons Barry Clifton Houchens and David Scott Houchens both of Glasgow; eight grandchildren Amanda, Jessica, Josh, Megan, Anna and Dillon Houchens, Monica Poynter and Carlos Morrison; several nieces and nephews and her special friend and caregiver Vicky Minor. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Euell C. Houchens, a sister Ruth Richey and brothers Leon and Willie Price Wright.

He was a senior at Hart County High School. Jonathan was a member of the Bolton Schoolhouse Missionary Baptist Church.

He is survived by his mother and step-father, MaeDonna Riggs Kersey and Randall Kersey, Magnolia; his father, Leonard Martin, Munfordville; four brothers, Leo Kersey and wife Nicole, Hardyville; James Kersey and wife Ashley and Jacob Kersey, both of Linwood; Rodney Martin, Munfordville; a sister, Karmin Raine, Munfordville; maternal grandparents, Bonnie Riggs, Munfordville and the late Sherman Riggs; paternal grandparents, Steve and Brenda Killman, Munfordville; step-grandparents, Bill Kersey and Geraldine, Magnolia; six nieces and nephews, Randy, Nick, Trevor, Brook and Emily Kersey and Matthew Dylan Martin.

Horse Cave - Dale O'Banion, 95, Horse Cave passed away Friday,October 12, 2012 at Caverna Memorial Hospital.

He was a Hart County native, retired farmer, a former Board Member of the Hart County Farm Bureau and Southern States CO-OP, worked many years for several tobacco warehouses in Horse Cave and a long time member and Deacon of Lonoke Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ethridge C. O'Banion and Mary Thompson O'Banion; a daughter, Ramona Marie O'Banion; three brothers, Raymond O'Banion, Dee O'Banion and Ralph O'Banion; two sisters, Vetra Isaacs and Geneva Logsdon; two grandchildren, Timmy O'Banion and Dewayne O'Banion.

Survivors include his wife of 76 years, Elaine Larimore O'Banion, Horse Cave;

Glasgow - Wilbur Lee Pursley, 84, Glasgow passed away Sunday, October 14, 2012 at his residence. Born in Barren County, on December 23, 1927 to the late Mark Burch Pursley and Tippie Lillian Stout Pursley.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Nora Francis Morgan Pursley; two sons, Harold Pursley and wife Wanda, Haywood and Darold Pursley and wife Jennifer, Glasgow; two grandsons, Quentin Pursley and wife Lindsey, North Carolina and Stuart Pursley, Haywood; three sisters, Margaret Crabtree, Haywood, Mildred Cheanult, Little Rock, AR and Lillian Doyel, Glasgow and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, William "Bill" Pursley.

William C. “Butch” Dearing, 64, Merry Oaks in Barren County died Saturday, October 6, 2012 at T. J. Samson Community Hospital. He was the son of the late Clifton and Olene Mosby Dearing. He was a self employed electrician and was a retired from the Barren County School System after 21 years as a bus driver. Mr. Dearing was a U.S. Army veteran of the Viet Nam War.

Survivors include his wife Patsy; two sons Dewayne Dearing (Laurie) of Rocky Hill, and Kris Dearing of Glasgow; a daughter Jenny Dearing of Glasgow; two sisters Patsy Ann Jones (Earl) of Stafford, VA and Faith Piper (Donald) of Scottsville; a brother Mark Dearing (Sandra) of Smiths Grove; three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by an infant daughter Allyson Danielle Dearing.

She was born January 3, 1924 in Hart County, the daughter of the late Theodore Hampton Smith and Esther Mae Owen Smith.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Eugenia Bean.
Dorothy is survived by her husband of 64 years, William R. “Bill” Walker, Sr; two sons, William R. “Rich” Walker, Jr. and Keith H. (Sara) Walker; two daughters, Teresa Schmidt (Tony) and Cheryl Jeffries (Earl) and five grandchildren, Erin, Leisa, Josh, Paige and Bailey.

Larry Webb, 62, Munfordville, passed away Thursday, October 4, 2012, at T. J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow. He was employed by Woodmen of the World, a member of the Caveland Country Club and Woodman Lodge 939. He was a US Navy veteran and a Baptist.

He was the son of the late Rev. J. W. Webb and the late Ella Webb.

He is survived by his wife: Marsha Stinson Webb; three daughters: Natalie N. Webb (Bradley P. Williams), Glasgow, Abby L. Cook (Brandon C.), Munfordville, Ashley L. Lowe (Andrew W.), Clarksville, TN; two brothers: Danny  W. Webb, Glasgow, James M. Webb, Junction City, KS; two grandchildren: Annika L. Lowe, Anderson W. Lowe.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two grandsons: Zachariah Cook and Christian Cook as well as two sisters: Patsy Caroline Webb and Diana Webb.

Funeral service was held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, October 7, 2012 at Brooks Funeral Home. Bro. Gerald Murphy and Bro. Lonnie Sheets officiated. Interment was at Munfordville Municipal Cemetery, Munfordville. Memorial donations can be made to the March of Dimes.

Norris Gene Best, 80, Glasgow died Saturday, September 29, 2012 at his home. He was born in Texas, KY the son of the late Henry and Leola McGraw Best. Gene was a former school teacher and principal and had taught in the Middletown, OH and Caverna school systems. He was a veteran serving in the U. S. Army and was an avid golfer and also enjoyed fishing. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Ann Kazee Best and a brother Ken Best.

He is survived by his wife Letha; one son Mike Best of Middletown, OH; one daughter Carol Link and husband John of Hainesville, IL; three grandchildren Emily Best, Cathy Jo Link and David Link; a brother Gay Best of Independence, KY; his step-daughter Barbara Lewis (Phil) of Naples, FL and two step-granddaughters Betsy Harned and Anne Angstrom.

Funeral services will be held at 10am Thursday, October 4, 2012 at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Frankfort Cemetery in Frankfort, KY.

VERA MAE MARTIN
Vera Mae Martin, 89, Glasgow died Saturday, September 29, 2012 at BHI Assisted Living in Glasgow.  She was born in Barren County the daughter of the late Johnny N. Johnson and Ova Morrison Johnson.  She was also preceded in death by her husband Dale E. Martin.  Mrs. Martin was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing and ceramics and was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church at Lamb. 

She is survived by her son David Martin and wife Wanda of Glasgow; two grandchildren Scott Martin and Jennie Turner (Randy); three great grandchildren Matt Turner, Bryce and Brynn Martin all of Glasgow; one brother Earl Johnson of Bowling Green, one sister Olene Hunt of Murfreesboro, TN; a sister-in-law Kathleen Johnson of Glasgow and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 11am Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Happy Valley Memorial Gardens.

Glasgow - Jakobe Bryon Bush, 4, Glasgow, died Thursday, Sept. 20, 2012 at Kosair Children’s Hospital in Louisville from injuries received in an auto accident in Barren County. He was born in Glasgow and was the son of Jescony Bush, Glasgow and Kenitha Coffey,Glasgow who survive.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by grandparents, Daron and Stacy Bush and Barry and Georgia Coffey; great grandparents, Phillip Bush, Naomi Bush and Janice Furlong; two aunts, Jalynn Bush and Cierra Coffey all of Glasgow; many other family members and friends. PATRICIA REYNOLDS SCHIELER
Patricia Reynolds Schieler, 59, Crystal Lake, Illinois and formerly of Cave City, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, September 15, 2012, after a two and a half year battle with cancer.

She was born January 20, 1953 in Glasgow, Kentucky, the daughter of Maurine Ward Reynolds and William Lerond Reynolds.  A 1970 graduate of Caverna High School, she studied music at the University of Kentucky and received her masters in music education from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  She was a loving wife and mother, and inspired many who knew her.  She enjoyed horticulture, music, genealogy, and reading, and was an active member of her church community.

She is survived by her husband George Schieler and her daughter Amanda Schieler, both of Crystal Lake, Illinois.  She is also survived by two sisters, Margaret (Mitchel) Hatcher, Cave City, KY, and Melinda Reynolds (Tinker Bray), Glasgow, KY; two nieces, Carol (Chris) Parsley, Cave City, KY, and Sherri (Billy) Stover, Shelbyville, KY; three step-sons, Glenn (Cathy) Schieler, and Paul and Richard Schieler; and many other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her first husband, Michael Kuscevich.

The visitation will be from 5 to 9pm, Friday, September 21 at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 E Terra Cotta Ave (IL Rt. 176), Crystal Lake, IL.  The memorial service will be held at 10am, Saturday, September 22 at Ridgefield Crystal Lake Presbyterian Church, 8505 Church St., Ridgefield, IL.  Burial and a brief graveside service will be held at 11am, Wednesday, September 26 at Cave City Cemetery, Cave City, KY.  All are welcome.

Survivors include her husband Thomas “Fitz” Fitzgerald; two daughters Charlotte Fitzgerald of Glasgow, Bonnie Applegate of Glasgow; one son Tommy Fitzgerald wife Stephanie of Glasgow; three grandchildren Symone Applegate, Spencer Applegate and Drew Fitzgerald; one sister Shirley Montgomery of Glasgow; one brother William Milo Grace of Indianapolis, IN; one sister-in-law Charlotte Hammon of North Carolina along with several nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by four  brothers.

Allen Wayne Logsdon, 50, Munfordville, passed away Tuesday, September 11, 2012, at Caverna Memorial Hospital in Horse Cave, KY. He was employed by Carl's Auto Service.

He was the son of the late Warren Logsdon and the late Bertha Elaine Dennis Logsdon.

He is survived by three daughters: Bobbie Jo Logsdon, Horse Cave, Jackie Logsdon, Bowling Green, Michelle Logsdon, Glasgow; a companion: Cissy Miller, Munfordville; two sisters: Dusty Losgdon, Horse Cave, Faye Greer, Louisville; two brothers: Bobby Logsdon, Horse Cave, Stanley Logsdon, Munfordville; three step children: Ruth Ann Davis, Munfordville, Joseph Miller, Glasgow, Ecil Miller, Munfordville; three grandchildren: Tori Cox, Savion Logsdon, and Cooper Davis.

CHRISTINE NELL TRAYLOR CLOYD, 91, Glasgow, Ky., Passed Away Sunday, September 2, 2012, At Nhc Healthcare Where She Was Attentively And Lovingly Cared For By A Host Of Caregivers Who  Were Truly Angels Of Mercy.

She Was Born August 16, 1921, And Was The Eldest Child Of The Late Carter Gates And Gladwyn Froedge Traylor And The Sister Of The Late Elvin Leon And Melvin Alfred Traylor And Ruth Traylor Bartley Patterson.

She Was A 1939 Graduate Of Glasgow High School After Which She Attended Lois Glyn Beauty School In Bowling Green Where SHe Was Elected “Miss Lois Glyn”.  She Eventually Owned Her Own Beauty Shop On The South Side Of The Glasgow Square.
In 1948 She Married William Bernard Cloyd And They Enjoyed Thirty-Seven Years Together Before He Preceded Her In Death In 1985.
Chris, Or Chrissy, As She Was Affectionately Known By Family And Friends, Had A Warm And Friendly Personality And A Loving Heart.  She Loved The Lord And Was A Faithful Member Of First United Methodist Church Who, Along With Two Others, Holds The Distinction Of Having The Longest Continuous Membership.
She Loved To Bowl And Was An Avid Bridge Player, Holding A Master’s Designation.  She Taught Many People To Play, And Belonged To Five Bridge Clubs At One Time.

Virginia Gail Poynter, 56, Edmonton, died Saturday, September 1, 2012, at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital. The family chose cremation. A memorial graveside service will be held 4:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery under the direction of the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home.

JUDGE LARRY D. RAIKES
Judge Larry D. Raikes, 73, Bardstown, died Friday August 31, 2012 at Hardin Memorial Hospital.  He was born August 1, 1939 in New Market, KY., graduated from Larue County High School in 1956, U of K in 1960 with a bachelor’s degree in political science, and U of K Law School in 1962 with a Juris Doctorate.  He opened his first law practice in 1962 in Hodgenville, where he practiced 20 years and served as Larue County Attorney beginning in 1969 for 2 terms.  He was appointed by Gov. John Y Brown to finish out unexpired term of Judge Charles Richardson as the 10th judicial circuit judge in 1983.  He was elected to circuit judge in 1983 and ran unopposed until his retirement in 2002 after which he took Senior Judge Status until 2008.  As circuit judge in Nelson, Hart, and Larue Counties, he carried the heaviest case load in the state, exceeding over 2000 cases per year, for several years.  In 2000 he was voted Outstanding Judge of the Year by KATA (Kentucky Academy of Trial Attorney’s) and received the Henry Pennington Outstanding Trial Lawyer Award.  After retirement in 2008 he joined the Law Firm of Fulton, Hubbard & Hubbard where he practiced law until his death.  He was on the committee to build the Nelson County Justice Center, and member of Bloomfield United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his father, Gilbert Hartford Raikes; and mother, Elizabeth Raikes.

He is survived by his wife Julie Shehan Raikes; two sons, Ryan Raikes and Rob Offutt all of Bardstown; sister, Beverly (Leonard) Ackerson of Hodgenville, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service was held at 1:00 pm Tuesday September 4, 2012 at Barlow Funeral Home, with burial in Maple Grove Cemetery, Bloomfield.  Dr. Rick Loader and Rev. Jim Hitt officiated.

ZELMA RUTHUNDERWOOD
Zelma Ruth Underwood, 91, Glasgow died Sunday, September 2, 2012 at the NHC Healthcare facility in Glasgow. She was born in Glasgow a daughter of the late Wert and Josie Martin Underwood. Zelma was a beautician and with her sister formerly operated Underwood's Beauty Salon for many years. She was a member of the Cedar Grove Baptist Church but had attended the Glasgow Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two sisters, Lucille and Betty Underwood and a brother Bill Underwood.

Survivors include her sister-in-law Maxine Underwood of Glasgow; two nephews Mark Underwood and wife Rita of Glasgow and Scott Underwood of Nashville; one niece Monica Lile and husband Marty of Bowling Green; one great niece, three great nephews, six great-great nieces and one great-great nephew.
A Graveside service will be held at 2:00pm Wednesday, Sept. 5th at the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Magnolia - Diane Gipson, 64, Linwood, passed away at 10:50 AM, Wednesday, August 15, 2012, at the T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow with her family by her side.
She was a member of Knoxes Creek Baptist Church, retired from Nationwide Uniform in Hodgenville and was a charter member of the Linwood Volunteer  Fire Department.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Stacey Lea Gipson; her  parents, William Herbert and Alma Maeola Knight Close and a sister, Charlotte Puckett.

She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Charles Gipson; two sisters, Jean Kidd, Hardyville and Brenda (Johnny) Pruitt, Louisville; three nieces, Melissa Kidd, Beth Allen and Rachel Bradley and four nephews,
Rick Pruitt, Ashley Puckett, Eric Pruitt and Dewayne Kidd.  Funeral services were held at 2 PM, (ET), Saturday, August 18, 2012, at the Dixon-Rogers Funeral Home in Magnolia with Bro. Darrell Hensley and Bro. Dewayne Kidd officiating. Burial followed in the Knoxes Creek Church Cemetery.

ADA LAVAUGHN JAGGERS HAYS
MUNFORDVILLE - Ada Lavaughn Jaggers Hays, 81, Munfordville, passed away Tuesday afternoon, August 21, 2012, at Jefferson Manor in Louisville.

She was a native of Cub Run, Hart County, KY born on November 23, 1930, the daughter of the late Jim Bob and Ada Day Jaggers. Lavaughn was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Wayne Hays and her daughter, Beverly Ann Hays, her brother, Obert Jaggers and her sister Mary Agnes Jaggers Gardner.
She began the first private Kindergarten in Munfordville in the 1960’s. In 1985 she and her husband Charles established the Play Pen Day Care Center in Munfordville. She was a member of the Munfordville Baptist Church.

She will be missed by the survivors including a daughter, Marcia Hays Lenz, Prospect, KY and a granddaughter, Morgan Suzanne Lenz, New York City; also surviving a brother, Bobby Jaggers, Cub Run; sisters-in-law- Kathryn Hays, Stevenson, WA; and Addie Lee Hays Carlson (Richard), Bowling Green; nieces, Rita Jaggers Strange (Wandel), Carol Gardner Wilkerson (Stewart), Kathy Hays Hereth (Larry); Patty Hays Ross (jim); Nancy Hays Johnson (Gary), Joan Hays Ledahl, Melinda Carlson Logic (Matthew), Kay Carlson, Beverly Dolan Smith; Sally Dolan Alves (Jerry), Sharon Dolan Schultz (Jack) and Susan`Hays Nemchick (Greg); nephews, Darrell Gardner, Tim Jaggers (Lisa), Rondell Jaggers, (Leslie), Jim Hays (Teri), Mike Hays, Raymond Hays (Cheri) Michael Jolly (Marcia Hays Jolly (predeceased), John Dolan (Chris), Bob Dolan (Sheri), Jeff Carlson and several great nieces and nephews are also surviving.

James Lawrence Lewis, 68, Glasgow died Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at his residence. Born in Barren Co. he was the son of the late James A. & Sarah E. Byrd Lewis. Mr. Lewis was a farmer in Barren County for many years.

Survivors include his wife Emma Theresa Carter Lewis of Glasgow; two daughters Teresa Brown and Vickie Turner (Chris) both of Glasgow; a son Ricky Lewis of Glasgow; a step-daughter Katerah Martin (Randy) of Madisonville, TN; two step-sons James Hicks of Glasgow and Jay Hicks of Madisonville, TN; three grandchildren Ashley Taylor, Dewayne Holman and Joey Brown; a great grandchild Madison Taylor; seven step-grandchildren Christopher Parks, Julia Hicks, James Scott Hicks, Jacob Martin, Emily Martin, Jonathan Martin and Joshua Martin; two sisters Patricia Smith of Glasgow and Mary Emmitt of Edinburgh, IN. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Thelma Jean Lewis.

BONNIE G. SMITH
Indiana - Bonnie G. Smith, 76, Huntingburg, Indiana, passed away August 21, 2012.
She was born January 17, 1936 to Wayne & Edith (Cline) Barron. Her family moved to Cave City, Kentucky when Bonnie was young and she grew up there. She married James Smith September 10, 1955 in Cave City; he died February 21, 2007.

Surviving: Three children, Becky Owen – Dale, IN, Bonita Meyer & Bob Smith – Jasper, IN; Five siblings, Howard Barron – Jackson, MS, Danny Barron – Franklin, KY, Paul Barron – Cave City, KY, Eleanor Vance & Judy Higgonbotham – Horse Cave, KY.

Funeral services were held Friday at Nass & Son Funeral Home with burial at Fairmount Cemetery in Huntingburg, Indiana.

James LeRoy Davidson, 74, Glasgow died Monday at his home after a brief illness.  He was born in Barren County the son of Glen and Emma Catherine Hayden Davidson.  Mr. Davidson was a truck driver and a former employee of Davidson Oil Co. and more recently the Bass Co.  He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Indianapolis, IN, was an avid bowler and attended the Old Zion United Methodist Church. 

Survivors include his wife Marjorie Furlong Davidson; two daughters Sheila Edmunds (Chris) of Glasgow and Wendy Mitford (Paul) of Indiana; one son Ricky Davidson (Nancee) of Florida; seven grandchildren Haley Johnson (Matt), Seth, Tyler and Luke Edmunds, and Alex, Nick and Michael Mitford; a great-grandson James Mattox Johnson; his mother Emma Catherine Davidson of Park City and a sister Glynna Hogan (Whimpy) of Park City.

Funeral services were held at 3:30 pm Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Old Zion Cemetery. A Masonic service was held at 7:00pm Tuesday at the funeral home.

Jane Garmon, 68, Glasgow died Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at the Medical Center in Bowling Green.  She was born in Fulton, KY the daughter of the late Clifford W. and Eva Katherine Peden Hall.  Jane was a former employee of NHC Healthcare for 23 years and was a member of the Glasgow Baptist Church. 

She is survived by her husband Roy Garmon; two sons Jeff Garmon (Jo) and Eric Garmon (Mindy) all of Glasgow; two daughters Andrea Gentry (John) and Leigh Ann Strode all of Cave City; five grandchildren Lindsey Strode, Camerin and Haley Garmon and Makayla and MaKenzie Gentry; one niece Leslie Sarasin (Ron) and one nephew Gary Hall.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother Guy Joe Hall.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30am Thursday, August 23, 2012 at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery.

Magnolia - Diane Gipson, 64, Linwood, passed away at 10:50 AM, Wednesday,
August 15, 2012, at the T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow with
her family by her side.

She was a member of Knoxes Creek Baptist Church, retired from Nationwide
Uniform in Hodgenville and was a charter member of the Linwood Volunteer
Fire Department.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Stacey Lea Gipson; her
parents, William Herbert and Alma Maeola Knight Close and a sister,
Charlotte Puckett.

She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Charles Gipson; two sisters,
Jean Kidd, Hardyville and Brenda (Johnny) Pruitt, Louisville; three
nieces, Melissa Kidd, Beth Allen and Rachel Bradley and four nephews,
Rick Pruitt, Ashley Puckett, Eric Pruitt and Dewayne Kidd.

Funeral services were held at 2 PM, (ET), Saturday, August 18, 2012,
at the Dixon-Rogers Funeral Home in Magnolia with Bro. Darrell Hensley
and Bro. Dewayne Kidd officiating. Burial followed in the Knoxes
Creek Church Cemetery.

Glasgow - Malcolm Eugene Harlow, 87, Park City died Thursday, August 16, 2012 at Greenview Regional Hospital in Bowling Green. He was born in Barren County, a son of the late Don Q. and Gladys Boston Harlow. He was a painter, a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII,  a collector of clocks and enjoyed model trains. He was a member of the Little Bethel Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years Helen Pennycuff Harlow; one daughter, Diana Taylor and husband Craig, Bowling Green; one granddaughter, Tammy Moran, Nashville; a brother, Joe Harlow and wife Doerathean, Glasgow; a niece, Joetta Kelley and husband Jim, Murray, KY and a great niece and nephew, Abby and Joseph Kelley.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Bonayr Cemetery.

Donald Thomas “Duck” Neal, 56, Hiseville lost his battle with lung cancer after 14 months at his home in Goodnight, KY Saturday afternoon August 18, 2012. Duck was born in Barren County on March 16, 1956 the son of Thomas & Beatrice Stephenson Neal. His family and friends stood faithfully by his side during his illness, along with T.J. Samson Hospice & Ms. Nora Brown, Caregiver. Duck worked for many years at Townsend Tree Services until he joined his son and opened Neal Recycling. He was a member of Coral Hill Baptist Church.

Survivors include his parents Thomas & Beatrice Neal of Glasgow; his son Eli (Martha) of Hiseville; one grandchild Maleah Walden & two step grandchildren Skyler & Jameson Kingrey all of Hiseville; Eli’s Mom Terri Harper of Lagrange, KY; three sisters Loretta Minyard (Johnny) of Smith Grove, Sheryl Bailey (Greg) of Glasgow & Darlene Vincent (Joe) of Hiseville; one brother Eddie Neal of Bowling Green; three nieces & two nephews several great nieces & nephews; special friend Norma Jean Reece; his extended family of Neal & Stephenson uncles, aunts & many cousins. Duck was preceded in death his grandparents, Leonard & Sarah Neal and Edgar & Nettie Stephenson.

Horse Cave - Larry G. Sanders, 71, Horse Cave, passed away at 5:45 AM, Thursday, August 16, 2012 at his home.

He was a Hart County native, a retired residential and commercial painter, a retired employee of the Kentucky State Highway Department and a Kentucky Colonel.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Kermit Sanders and Marie Bumgardner Sanders; an infant sister, Rose Marie Sanders; an infant grandson, Andy Lynn Brewster; a nephew, Ricky Anderson and three brothers, Ralph, Roger and Robert (Bob) Sanders.

MARY RUTH SMITH UNDERWOOD
Mary Ruth Smith Underwood, 87, died Friday, August 17, 2012 at the Barren County Health Care in Glasgow.  She was born in Barren County September 21, 1924, the daughter of the late Marion and Mary Sherfey Crabtree.  She was a retired employee of the Glasgow City School System and was a member of the Caney Fork Baptist Church at Etoile. 

The loving wife, mother and grandmother is survived by her husband Wendell; children Terry E. Smith (Lois) of Portland, TN, Janet R. Wilding (Richard) of Louisville and Linda Dickson (Rollin) of Glasgow; one sister Shelby J. Moses (George) of Lucas; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and a lifetime of friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband of 47 years Clifton E. Smith; three brothers Charles, James and Bobby Crabtree; 2 sisters Helen Hunt and Jessie Hall and a grandson Stephen Craig Frank.

Jimmie Estep, 83, Glasgow and formerly of Indiana died Friday, August 3, 2012 in Glasgow.  He was a veteran and proudly served his country in the U. S. Army.  He enjoyed working on vehicles at home and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Denise Estep; children: Tim (Linda) Estep, Doug (Denise) Estep, Sherry Whitner, Debbie (Doug) Markward, Pam (Robert) Dunham, Annie Carey, John (Denise) Schultz and Nancy (Donald) West; siblings: Ronald (Roberta) Estep, Gerry Stout and Jean Guy; 19 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and a loving father figure to many other children.  He was preceded in death by a son Larry Estep and a granddaughter Cassie Estep.

He was a son of the late Huston and Matilda Brown Hamburg and was a former floral designer. William Earl Hunter, 66, Glasgow died Saturday August 4, 2012 at The Medical Center at Bowling Green. He was the son of the late Carl Barlow and Claire Hunter. Mr. Hunter worked in Construction, served in the U.S. Army for 8 years and was a member of Harlow’s Chapel Baptist Church where he served as Deacon, Trustee and Assistant Sunday School Superintendent.

Survivors include his wife Elizabeth Ann Hunter of Glasgow; two sons Mark Hunter and Danny Hunter (Leslie) both of Bowling Green; five daughters Markita Hunter of Bowling Green, Delain Hunter of Bowling Green, Anitra Hunter of Frankfort, B. Caroline Hunter of Louisville and Niketa Estes of Louisville; two step children Eric Martin (Holly) of Glasgow and Leslie Martin of Bowling Green; 16 grandchildren; ten step grandchildren; six great grandchildren; two brothers James Barlow and Charles Hunter both of Glasgow; a sister Minnie Edmunds (Ervin) of Glasgow and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Glasgow -Loretta Hawks Pitcock, 76, Louisville, formerly of Glasgow, died Friday, August 03, 2012 at Norton Suburban Hospital in Louisville. She was born in Barren County, the daughter of the late Horace and Ruby Nuckols Hawks. Her husband was the late Elzie L. Pitcock.

Survivors include one daughter, Jennifer Collins, Louisville; three sons, Bobby Hawks, Glasgow, Jeff Sturdivant, Washington and Bruce Sturdivant, Louisville; 13 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; one brother, Karlene Hawks, Taylorsville and two sisters, Nina Lawrence and Katherine Payne both of Glasgow. A brother, Roex Hawks preceded her in death.

MUNFORDVILLE – John Allen Logsdon, 54, Eastview, passed away at 10:57 p.m. ET Friday, August 3, 2012 at Hardin Memorial Hospital in  Elizabethtown.

He was a farmer and a welder, loved fishing and working on his farm. John was a  member of the White Mills Baptist Church where he enjoyed delivering meals to the elderly as part of their food ministry.
John was preceded in death by his father, Joe Donald Logsdon, a son, Jody Logsdon and a brother, David Earl Logsdon.

He is survived by his wife, Kelly Hawke Logsdon; his mother, Carrie McCubbin Logsdon, Eastview; a daughter, Erin Michelle Helm and husband Phillip, Elizabethtown; two grandchildren Katherine and Adrian Helm; two step grandchildren, Dakota and Lilly Helm and a very special friend – Justin Sallee, White Mills;

He was born in Hardin County to the late Arthur Priddy and Ruby Priddy Chesser. He was a member of the Stoney Point Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a brother- Russell Priddy and by a step-great granddaughter- Natalie Srygler.

MUNFORDVILLE – Nellie Coquese Reynolds, 72, Bonnieville, passed away Thursday, August 2, 2012, at her home.
 She was the daughter of the late Claude and Myrtle Gibson Bryant and the wife of the late Floyd Kenneth Reynolds. She worked on the farm and was a housewife.

She was preceded in death by a son, Brian Keith Reynolds; three brothers, Melvin, Curt and Duck Bryant and two sisters, Marie Smith and Midge Walters.

Ms. Reynolds is survived by a son, Kendall Dean Reynolds, Bonnieville; three daughters, Darlene Estes, Bonnieville; Shirley Fields, Munfordville; Melissa Reynolds, Bonnieville; two brothers,  Russell Bryant, Louisville;  Hillard Bryant, Horse Cave; two sisters, Thelma Waldeck and Lola Bryant, both of Bonnieville; seven grandchildren including Nathan Reynolds that she raised and five great grandchildren.

Mrs. Robinson was a native of Hart County and a homemaker. She loved camping, flowers and was a member of Cave Spring Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Watt Houtchins and Dora Lyle Houtchins, two brothers, Hulen Houtchins, Tommy Houtchins, two half brothers, Elza Houtchins and Wallace Ward.

Bowling Green - Marjorie "Bee" Mitchell Brooks, 90, Cave City, formerly of Bowling Green, died Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at her residence.

Mrs. Brooks was born January 5, 1922, a daughter of the late Rev. and Mrs. Charles Mitchell. She was preceded in death by her husband, Julian Brooks and a daughter, Nancy Brooks Cushenberry, and five siblings.

She was a member of Highland United Methodist Church and also a member of Broadway United Methodist Church for over 58 years.

Survivors include a daughter, Shirley Phillips (Wayne Shultz), Pittsford, NY; son-in-law, Larry Cushenberry, Cave City; three grandchildren, Kim Johnson (Jeff), Owensboro, KY, Laura Harper (Chris), Cave City and Greg Phillips, Cave City; one great granddaughter, Mackenzie Taylor, Cave City and several nieces and nephews.

ORAN “MITCH” FERGUSON
Glasgow - Oran “Mitch” Ferguson, 86, Glasgow died Monday, July 23, 2012 at the NHC Healthcare Center in Glasgow. He was born in Monroe County, the son of the late Floyd and Ada Bowles Ferguson. He was owner and operator of the Glasgow Glass Company. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WW II, a member of the First United Methodist Church in Glasgow, a member of the Mid-KY Antique Car Club and Square Dancers Club.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Baker Ferguson; two sons, Michael Ferguson, Glasgow and Philip Ferguson and wife Judy, Lucas; three grandchildren, Aaron Ferguson, Washington D.C., Hailey Ferguson, Louisville and Chris DeVore and wife Sherise, Glasgow; three great-grandchildren, Rozalynn, Christopher and Henry DeVore; one brother, Marvin Ferguson, Indianapolis, IN; one sister, Vonda Starnes, Mt Hermon and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Mervin Ferguson and two sisters, Vonda Headrick and Yvonne Ferguson.

Horse Cave - Lillian Robinson, 81, Park City, formerly of Horse Cave, passed away Monday, July 30, 2012 at her home.

Mrs. Robinson was a native of Hart County and a homemaker. She loved camping, flowers and was a member of Cave Spring Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Watt Houtchins and Dora Lyle Houtchins, two brothers, Hulen Houtchins, Tommy Houtchins, two half brothers, Elza Houtchins and Wallace Ward.

VELMA ANDERSON
Glasgow - Velma Anderson, 96, Glasgow died Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at the NHC Healthcare Facility in Glasgow. She was born in Cumberland County, the fourth of eleven children to the late Jessie Edd & Maddie White Anderson. She was the wife of the late Ray Anderson and also preceded in death by her first husband, Earl Anderson. Mrs. Anderson was a member of the Columbia Ave. Church of Christ and worked for over 50 years in local factories before retiring.

Survivors include a grandson, Ben Bertram, Vinita, Ok; three great grandchildren, Ashley, Gage and Katie Bertram; three step-grandchildren, Kelly, Tony and Paula; a brother, Kyle Anderson, Athens, IL; four sisters, Flora Spears, Lancing, IL, Olene Geralds, Gamaliel, Ruth Sewell, Indianapolis, IN and Juanita Blythe, Dubree, KY; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Sue Bertram and her husband Donald; a step-son, Smokey Anderson; three brothers, Ray, Taylor & Hershel Anderson and two sisters, Clyde Ballard & Pearl Hall.

JANIECE HARLOW BALLARD
Glasgow - Janiece Harlow Ballard, 92, Louisville died Saturday, July 14, 2012 at Regis Woods Care in Louisville. She was born in Glasgow, the daughter of the late Gillum C. and Linnie Barbour Harlow. She was the wife of the late William Ballard.

She is survived by a sister, Dartha Harlow Dennis, Glasgow; four nieces; three nephews and several great nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Verla Harlow Sims and three brothers, Willard, Ewell and U.G. Harlow.

Mrs. Ballard chose cremation and no services are scheduled at this time. A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home assisted the family with the arrangements.

MUNFORDVILLE – Christopher Scott Hagan, 33, Hardyville, passed away Tuesday, June 12, 2012, at his home. He was a member of the Munfordville Church of God.

He is survived by his wife, Ashley Hagan; his mother, Carolyn Hagan, Hardyville; a son, Caleb Michael Hagan, Cave City; a daughter, Hollie A. Hagan, Hardyville; a brother, Gordon Lawson, Melbourne, FL; a sister, Shannon Luker, Cocoa, FL; maternal grandparents, Forest and Louise Carroll, Canmer; a niece, Amanda Luker; two nephews, Ray Luker and Jye Lawson; three uncles, Bro. Glasgow - J. T. Logsdon, Sr., 67, Glasgow died Friday, July 13, 2012 at the V. A. Hospital in Louisville. Born in Glasgow, he was the son of the late Jesse Logsdon and Mamie Walden Bartley of Glasgow who survives. Mr. Logsdon was veteran of the U. S. Army.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by a daughter, Sandra Hale,  Park City; a son J. T. Logsdon, Jr., Glasgow; four grandchildren, Zach, Derek and Noah Logsdon and Lachrisha Poynter; four great grandchildren, Kea Poynter, Caleb McClellan, Vontavious Poynter and Lakyha Poynter; a brother, J. B. Logsdon, Glasgow; three sisters, Jo Ann Henderson, Louise Blair and Linda Cook all of Glasgow; a special friend, Wanda Bartley; several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

Munfordville -Elsie Sublett Wilson, 73, Horse Cave, passed away Sunday, July 15, 2012, at her residence in Horse Cave. She was a self employed cosmetologist and a member of Pleasant Oak Ridge Baptist Church.

She was the daughter of the late Garfield Sublett and the late Betty F. Garnett Sublett.

She is survived by her husband, Richard Wilson; daughter in law, Susie Wilson, Horse Cave; special daughter and grandson, Cindy and Brandon, South Carolina; four sisters: Maxine Wood, Katherine Daniels both of Louisville, Betty Perry, Glasgow and Lolamae Barnes, Calumet, IL; two grandchildren, Makayla Brianne Wilson and Jacob Tyler Wilson; a special friend of 50 years, Mrs. Jannie Williams, Lakewood, CA; a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews, several real close friends and other familly.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Richard Jerome Wilson; brother, Henry L. Sublett and grandson, Cody Jerome Wilson.

Hascal “Junior” Coulter, 75, Glasgow died Monday, July 09, 2012 at Glenview Health Care in Glasgow. He was born in Barren County the son of the late Hascal and Ethel Groce Coulter. Junior was a crane operator and an employee of Ernest Simpson Construction Co. for 30 years. He attended the Greater Vision Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife Joyce; one daughter Donna Williams (Larry) of Glasgow; three grandchildren Brandon Groce (Brandie) of Smith Grove, Bradley Williams (Fiancée Nikki Webb) Glasgow, and Lindsey Lloyd (Justin) of Glasgow; five great grandchildren Braydon, Brylee and Bryn Groce, Brady Williams and Gracelyn Lloyd; two sisters Louise Botts of Glasgow and his twin sister Jean McCombs of Louisville; a brother Reed Coulter of Louisville and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother Jack Coulter and a sister Margaret Botts.

CLOTEEL LYONS
Cloteel Lyons, 81, passed away Sunday July 8, 2012 at Summerfield Nursing Home.
She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and retired from Brown & Williamson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Perry D, Lyons.
She is survived by her sister, Elizabeth Williams and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Cloteel’s life was held on Wednesday at 11:00 AM at the O. D. White & Sons Funeral Home with interment at Louisville Memorial Gardens West.

KENNETH ADAM MILLER
Lance Cpl. Kenneth Adam Miller, 20 of Glasgow died Sunday July 1, 2012 in Yucca Valley, California.  He was stationed at the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center Twentynine Palms in Twentynine Palms, CA.  He achieved the rank of Lance Corporal in June of 2011 and was with the Third Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion.  Adam received two awards, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. 

He was born June 7, 1992 in Middletown, NY the son of Tammy Jo Miller of Glasgow and Timothy S. Miller of Temple Hill.  He was a 2010 graduate of Barren Co. High School and had attended the Gethsemane Baptist Church in Glasgow.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife Grace also stationed in California with the USMC; a brother Clyde Miller of Temple Hill; a sister Makayla Miller of Scottsville; Maternal Grandmother Lora Burd of Scottsville; Maternal Grandfather Keith Turner of Glasgow; Paternal Grandmother Marie Miller of Temple Hill; Maternal Great-Grandmothers Dorothy Burd of Scottsville and Dorothy Melvin of Canmer; his mother-in-law Elizabeth Semernezski of Bowling Green; 2 sisters-in-law Ashley and Bethany Myers of Bowling Green; an Aunt Christy (Chris) Poynter of Smiths Grove; an Uncle Mark (Betty) Miller of Temple Hill and several other aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and his Marine family.

He was preceded in death by his Paternal Grandfather Kenneth Miller, and his Maternal Great Grandfathers Burton Burd and C.A. Melvin.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, July 13, 2012 at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home.  Burial with Military honors were in the Horse Cave Cemetery.

George B. Capps, 81, Glasgow died Sunday, July 1, 2012 at his residence. Born in Cumberland Co. he was the son of the late William Calvin & Laura Melton Capps. Mr. Capps was a member of the Whites Chapel Church.

Survivors include his wife Barbara Rhinehart Capps of Glasgow; four daughters Tammy Swafford of Louisville, Carolyn Davidson of Glasgow, Georgia Capps of Shepardsville, KY and Jessica Pentland of Meade Co., KY; four sons Gary Capps of Glasgow, Keith Capps of IL, James Capps of Somerset and Timmy Smith of Louisville; five step-sons James Ennis of Knob Lick, Scotty Ennis of Columbia, Charles Compton, Stephen Compton and Eddie Compton all of Center; three step-daughters Tina Russell & Tracy Glass of Edmonton and Lanita Polston of Horse Cave; 18 grandchildren, 12 step grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and a brother J. D. Capps of Cave City also survive. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son Dennis Swafford and a brother Gilbert Capps.

PRESTON “Pep” MANSFIELD
Preston Lively "Pep" Mansfield, 93, Munfordville, passed away Tuesday, July 3, 2012, at his residence in Munfordville. He was a retired Hart County math teacher, an avid outdoorsman and a member of Munfordville United Methodist Church.  After graduating from Annapolis class of '42, he served his country in the US Navy during World War II.

He was the son of the late Henry Mansfield and the late Anna Grace Larimore Mansfield.

He is survived by devoted caregivers William and Vicki Philpott, eight nieces and nephews, several great nieces and nephews and several great great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Martha Mansfield Clement, brother, Paul Huston "Pooch" Mansfield and an infant brother, Henry Franklin Mansfield Jr.

Funeral service were held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, July 5, 2012 at First United Methodist Church, Munfordville. Pastor Rick Johnson officiated. Interment was at Munfordville Municipal Cemetery, Munfordville.

Mary Alma Stilts, 87, Cave City, passed away Sunday, July 1st, 2012 at Hart County Health Care, Horse Cave.  The Barren County native was the daughter of the late Luther Carl and Nanny Frances Hogan Martin.  She was a retired inspector for Mammoth Cave Garment Co. and a member of the Cave City Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Carroll Stilts, SR; a son, Carroll Stilts, JR, both of Cave City; a daughter, Carolyn Payne (Don), Ellison Bay, WI, and one grandchild.

Glasgow - George Edward White, 77, Glasgow died Friday, June 29, 2012 at Glasgow Health and Rehab Center. Born in Barren County, he was the son of the late Johnny and Anna Laura Furlong White. George was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army, was retired from the Mallory Corp. and was a farmer. He was a member of the Temple Hill Golden Oldies and the Samsonites and was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church where he had been a Deacon since 1985 and was the church treasurer.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Margie Driver White; one son, Ricky White (Lesa), Glasgow; one daughter, Jonita Shives (Mike), Glasgow; four grandchildren, Brandon White, Scott Shives, Whitney (Brandon) Norris and Amanda Shives; two great grandsons, Remington White and Hunter Norris; special great grandchildren, J.P. Burns, Kehli Spears, and Hayden Spears; three sisters-in-law, Doris White, Louisville, Mary Ann (Carroll) Nunn and Betty Driver both of Glasgow and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Mickey Edward White; a grandson, Jordan; two brothers, John (Juanita) White and Paul White, and two sisters, Mary Annie White and Delsie (Everett) Powell.

REGINA MARY MAGDALENE WOOD
Regina Mary Magdalene Wood, 71, Glasgow died Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital.  Born in Glasgow she was the daughter of the late Harry Davidson and Sallie Allen Woodard and step father Les Woodard.  On May 21, 1955 Regina was married to the late Dallies L. Wood.  Mrs. Wood was a member of the Pleasant Union Baptist Church in the Coral Hill community where she served faithful as a Sunday School Teacher, Missionary and in Hospitality.

Survivors include three daughters Sally C. Hayes, Gwendolyn M. Wood and Tina D. Wood all of Glasgow; four sons Louis L. Wood (Celia), Aldwin O. Wood (Patricia), Ricky L. Wood (Brenda) and Dallies E. Wood (Dorothy) all of Glasgow; 25 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; a brother-in-law Delmer Wood (Ernestine) of Cave City; Aunt Gustava Tudor of Indianapolis, IN; Uncle Theodore Ellis of Glasgow; Mother-in-law Dorothy Wood of Texas; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.  In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law Helen Ferguson Wood.

RICHARD ALLEN FOSTER

Glasgow - Richard Allen Foster, 73, Glasgow and formerly of Indianapolis, IN died Saturday, June 16, 2012 at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow. He was born in Indianapolis, the son of the late Clyde Allen and Augusta Foster.

He was a retired engineer with Kennedy Tank, Inc. in Indianapolis and while living there was a member of the Kiwanis Club, a Mason and a member of the Scottish rite. He was a veteran and served in the U. S. Army.

Survivors include his daughter, Nancy Barrett, Glasgow; a son, Roger Allen Foster (Dawn), New Whiteland, IN; three grandchildren, Zack and Jacob Coffman and Lucy Foster; two brothers, Clyde Foster, Jr., Indianapolis and John Foster, College Station, TX and a sister, Ruth Ann Foster, Wasilla, AK.

Mr. Foster chose cremation and a private memorial service will be scheduled. A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. 



NANCY COLVIN MONROE
Cave City - Nancy Colvin Monroe, 75, Cave City, passed away Friday, June 15, 2012 at Jewish Hospital, Louisville.  She was the daughter of the late Curtis and Icy Colvin.  On March 1, 1959 she married Bobby Monroe, who preceded her in death in 2009.

Survivors include a nephew, Sammy (Vickie) Monroe, Cave City; two great-nieces Dana Monroe and Sammye Jo ( Dustin) Singer, one great-great nephew, Matthew Steven Singer, all of Cave City; a brother Larry (Janelle) Colvin, Bunker Hill, IN; two brothers-in-law, Larry (Patricia) Monroe, William (Joann) Monroe, two sisters-in-law, Carolyn Monroe and Joyce Monroe.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Florence McGuire and Ida Bell Cook, four brothers, Kenny, Beanie, Chester and Jim McGuire and one great nephew, Matt Monroe.
Graveside services were held Sunday, June 17, 2012 at 2:30 pm at the Cave City Cemetery. Bob Hunt Funeral Chapel, Cave City, was in charge of the arrangements.

MATTIE FRANCES RATTLIFF NOE
Greensburg - Mrs. Mattie Frances Rattliff Noe, daughter of the late Charlie and Flossie Morgan Rattliff, was born April 14, 1932 in Green County and departed this life on June 16, 2012 at the Golden Living Center-Green Hill. She was 80 years, 2 months, and 2 days of age.
She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the South Summersville Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening and planting flowers. She was also a member of the Women’s Missionary Union and The Eastern Star.
Having united in marriage on May 8, 1948, she is survived by her husband of 64 years, Virgil Everett Noe; her two daughters, Lorie Hawkins and husband Troy and Patty Nunn and husband Mike, all of Greensburg; her son-in-law, Danny White, Hardyville; five grandchildren, Kristy Mathis, Shady Grove, Jessica Janes, Greensburg, Emily White, Hardyville, Amy Reynolds, Uno, and Bethany Hawkins, Greensburg; five great grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Chloe, Serenity, Trinity and Isaiah; her step great grandchild, Dale; one sister-in-law. Joyce Morgan, Greensburg and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Marsha White.
Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at the South Summersville Baptist Church with burial in the Wilson Cemetery in Green County. Chaplain Carlton Puryear, Bro. Ashley Shuffett, Bro. Jerry Noe and Bro.Troy Hawkins officiated .

Horse Cave - Ruth Allen Altman, 88, Horse Cave passed away 2:50 p.m. Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at T.J. Samson Community Hosptial in Glasgow.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Altman, Edna Mouser Jones and her brother Emory (Jeep) Altman.
She was a graduate of Hiseville High School where she was valdictorian of her class. She also graduated from Bowling Green Business School. Miss Altman was a retired C.I.A. Agent in Washington, D.C. and was a member of the Horse Cave Christian Church.

Survivors Include: aunt: Lovie Nell Mouser, Horse Cave; first cousins: Nita Melloan, Horse Cave, Maxine Russell, Horse Cave, Rusty Mouser and wife Ruby, Horse Cave, Wayne Lee Mouser and wife Paula,  Canada, Kathy Walker and husband W.L., Summersville, Sandy Walkup and husband Johnny, Black Nat

JESSE JAMES CHAPMAN
Jesse James Chapman, 9, Glasgow, went to be with our Lord Saturday, June 9, 2012, at 6:26 am at Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital in Nashville due to complications with Muscular Dystrophy.

He was born February 23, 2003 in Glasgow.  The Barren County native was a student at Austin-Tracy Elementary where he would have been in the 3rd grade.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, wrestling, and just life in general.  He recently got to meet John Cena through Make-A-Wish.

He is survived by his parents Jessica & Jeremy Lashley and James (Pete) and Cassie Chapman all of Glasgow; six brothers, Christopher Chapman, Jeremy Brown, Camron Chapman, Robert Smith, and Joshua Dean all of Glasgow, and Joshua Lashley of Scottsville; three sisters, Juanita Chapman and Mary Willis of Glasgow and Kayce Donlan of Scottsville; Maternal Grandparents, Leonard and Karen Farmer of Glasgow, and Ray and Deretha Brown of Etoile; Paternal Grandparents, William (Terry) and Wanda Chapman of Glasgow; Maternal Great-Grandparents, Mary Schoof of Glasgow, William Schoof  of LaPorte, IN, Jerry and Juanita Spence of Huntington, WV, Harold and Dorothy Farmer of Logan WV, and Mearl Keown of Bowling Green; several aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of friends.

 He was preceded in death by an uncle Leonard Roy Farmer; an aunt Geneva Aliff; Great-Grandmother, Virginia Keown; Grandfather, Daryl Lashley; and several other aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to help defray funeral expenses.

SPENCER MICHAEL CREWS
Glasgow - Spencer Michael Crews, 18, Glasgow died Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at the Medical Center at Bowling Green. He was born in Glasgow and was the son of Michael Crews and Kim Wilson Crews of Glasgow who survive.

Spencer was a member of the 2012 graduating class at Barren Co. High School and had been employed at Ralphie’s Fun Center in Glasgow. He enjoyed playing basketball with his girlfriend and friends at the YMCA and enjoyed video games, hunting and fishing and just hanging out with his friends. He had a big heart and was a loving person and will be missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by a sister, Whitney Crews, Glasgow; his girlfriend Kelsey Cummings, Glasgow; paternal grandmother, Norma Crews, Glasgow; maternal grandmother, Joyce Carlson, Glasgow; maternal grandfather, Carlos Wilson, Smiths Grove; his aunts and uncles, Joey Crews, Kim Devers, Carolyn Glass and Jeff Compton; several cousins and many friends including his special friend, Mattie Zunnurain. He also leaves behind his dog, Cali and his cat, Pumba.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Jerry Crews and a nephew, Preston Madison.

Funeral services were held 3:00 pm Friday, June 8, 2012 at A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery.

 
BILLY D. DANIELS
Horse Cave - Billy D. Daniels, 66, Horse Cave passed away at 12:30 a.m. Tuesday June 5, 2012 at his residence. He was a Barren County native a former manager of Foremost Foods in Glasgow and a member of the Horse Cave Christian Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed Daniels and Minnie Smith Daniels, his wife Janice Craine Daniels and by a sister, Patricia Ann Scott.

He is survived by a daughter, Tammy Pacillo & her husband Mike, Glasgow and his son, John Daniels, Glasgow. Four Grandchildren. two Brothers, Albert Daniels & his wife Virginia, Harned, Ky. , Donnie Daniels & his wife Billie, Cave City. three Sisters, Sue Fulkerson & her husband Larry, Marietta GA. Bettie Nunn & her husband Jerry, Horse Cave, Anita Lucas & husband Jim, Lebanon Jct. Ky. Also Several Nieces and Nephews.

Cremation was chosen. Arrangements were under direction of Winn Funeral Home, Horse Cave.

 JOHN MARION FORD
John Marion Ford, 50, Glasgow died Friday, June 6th at T. J. Samson Community Hospital.  Born in Glasgow he was the son of the late O.H. Ford and Betty Louvena Haley Ford.  John was a self employed auto mechanic. 
 
He is survived by a son Harley Ford and a daughter Holley Ford both of Tompkinsville; 3 brothers Michael Carl Ford (Julia) of Edmonton and Donnie Ford (Kathy) and Doug Ford (LaRissa) both of Glasgow; nieces and nephews Chelsea Ford of Edmonton, Lisa Bartley (Brandon) of Glasgow, Jared Ford (Amberly) of Bowling Green and Haley Bolyard (Don) of Festus, MO.  Several aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.
 
The family chose cremation and a time and place for a memorial service will be announced at a later date.  A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

MARY EMOGENE GRIZZLE
After losing her husband, Reverend Kenneth Grizzle, just four months ago, Mary Emogene Grizzle, 84, Glasgow joined her husband in Heaven early Saturday morning, June 9, 2012. The funeral was held at Grider Memorial on Tuesday. Burial was in nearby Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.



AMANDA HOPE HIGHBAUGH
MUNFORDVILLE – Amanda Hope Highbaugh, 47, Bonnieville, passed away at 7:58 a.m . Sunday, June 10, 2012, at her home. She was a member of the Bonnieville Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Alicia Highbaugh; by her mother, Phyllis Bryant and a brother, Buck Bryant.

Hope is survived by her husband, Steve Highbaugh; two sons, Nick Highbaugh, Horse Cave; Jacob Highbaugh, at home; father, Jesse Bryant, Horse Cave; a brother, Jesse Samuel Bryant, Hardyville; Gary Bryant, Blue Springs, MO; a sister, Beverly Riley, Bement, IL; two grandchildren, Steven Clay Defevers and Brilyne Highbaugh,. Special nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Bonnieville Baptist Church with Bro. Ronnie Blair officiating. Burial will be in Memory Park Cemetery at Bonnieville.

 


IDA SMITH LIKENS
Ida Smith Likens, 79, Glasgow died Wednesday June 6, 2012 at the University of Louisville Hospital. She was born in Allen County the daughter of the late Arthur and Ila Mae Estes. She was a homemaker and was retired from Sorensen Mfg. Co. Mrs. Likens was a member of Grider Memorial Baptist Church for 55 years.

She is survived by her husband John P. Likens; four children John P. Likens, Jr. (Ann), Martha Sue Faulkner (Rollin) and Brenda Ann Moore (Royce) all of Glasgow and Dennis W. Likens (Sally) of Michigan; 11 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and the caretaker of one great grandchild, Cain Moore; two brothers Kenneth C. Smith of Glasgow and Billy Ray Smith of Indiana and five sisters including her twin sister Ila Vay France of Indiana, Mary Francis McPeak, Shirley Jean Crews, Diane Smith York and Debbie Lynn Decker all of Glasgow.
 

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two grandchildren Tony and Bobby Vaughn and her brothers Charles McPeak, Arthur E. Smith, William Neal Smith, John William Smith, Charles Clifton Smith and Rollin Eugene Smith.

DAVE LLIFFE
Glasgow- Dave Iliffe was born in Liverpool, England Aug. 25, 1951 and passed away April 22, 2012 in Bournemouth, England. Dave was raised Roman Catholic but had attended Bethel United Methodist Church in Glasgow. He loved with a passion the Liverpool Football Club and cheered them on every time they played. Dave was a quiet soul with a kind heart, always smiling and laughing. He loved landscaping, throwing huge parties and most of all he loved children. Children were always drawn to him and he loved being around them. He served in the British Military in Iraq.

Dave is survived by his loving wife of nine years, Gail Greer-Iliffe, Glasgow; two step-daughters, Stephanie Rigsby, Dayton, OH and Megan Rigsby (John), Glasgow; a step-granddaughter on the way, Lily Cade Pedigo; eight brothers; three sisters; three children and six grandchildren all in England. He is also survived by three best friends, Marissa and Natalie Hughes and Gemma Cook all in England and several best friends here in America. He was preceded in death by his father, mother and one sister.

Memorial services were held at Dave and Gail’s home at 177 Patton Terrace Rd. in Glasgow on Saturday, June 9, 2012 at 3:00 PM with a celebration of Dave’s life following the service at Bethel Methodist Church fellowship hall. A supper meal was served by the church members.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions to Bethel United Methodist Church.




CLEO MEREDITH
MUNFORDVILLE – Cleo Meredith, 86, Cub Run, passed away at 10 a.m. Thursday, June, 7, 2012, at Hart County Health Care Center in Horse Cave. He was the son of the late Elick and Celea Buster Meredith and a retired farmer.

He is survived by five sons, Jimmy Meredith, Munfordville; Ronnie Meredith, Louisville; Marvin Meredith, Winchester; Ricky Meredith, Bowling Green, Richie Meredith, Scottsville; six daughters, Shirley Trulock, Cub Run; Judy Meredith, Lexington; Rita Shelley, Burgin; Helen Proffitt and Tracy Royce, both of Lexington; Lynn Meredith, Smiths Grove; two brothers, Leo Meredith, Cub Run; Kenneth Meredith, Park City, several grandchildren and several great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Sego Funeral Home in Munfordville with burial in the Meredith-Thompson Cemetery in Edmonson County.




LEWIS RAY MORGAN
Lewis Ray Morgan, Sr., 60, Glasgow died Sunday, June 3, 2012 at Greenview Hospital in Bowling Green. He was born in Glasgow the son of Joe Henry Morgan and Addie Jane Meek Morgan. Lewis was a former employee of KY Pants Co. and Holley Carburetor in Bowling Green. He was a U.S.Navy Veteran of the Viet Nam War and was a member of DAV Chapter 20 of Glasgow.

He is survived by his mother, Addie Jane Morgan, Glasgow; his wife Emily Flowers Morgan; a son Lewis Ray Morgan, Jr., Glasgow; a daughter Sherry Morgan of Glasgow; two brothers Joe David Morgan (Mendy) and Terry Morgan (Lisa), both of Glasgow; a sister Marthanna Davis (Roger) of Glasgow; two nephews Randy Delk and Scott Morgan (Amy); two nieces Olivia Woodcock and Stephanie Pedigo; a great niece Katie Morgan and great nephew Wyatt Morgan. He was preceded in death by his father Joe Henry Morgan.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM Wednesday at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Neal’s Chapel Cemetery with military honors provided by DAV Chapter 20 of Glasgow. Alternate expressions of sympathy may take the form of memorial contributions to the Neal’s Chapel Cemetery Fund.



OMA PERKINS
Oma Perkins Walters, 81, Munfordville, passed away at 1:22 AM CT Saturday, June 9, 2012, at T. J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow. The Hart County native was born June 24, 1930. She was a homemaker and a member of the Wilkerson Temple United Methodist Church.

She was the daughter of the late Lewis Thad Perkins and the late Lillie Florence (Reynolds) Perkins. She was the wife of the late Carl Walters.

She is survived by One Daughter: Sharon Dennison, Horse Cave; One Granddaughter: Allison McCutchen (Ken), Bowling Green; One Grandson: Adam Dennison (Amanda), Horse Cave, One Great-Granddaughter: Whitley Rose Dennison, Horse Cave; One Step-Great-Granddaughter: Christa Lynn Carroll, Horse Cave; Two Sisters: Nellie Self, Munfordville; Ruth Snodgrass, Louisville; Two Brothers: Leslie Perkins, Indianapolis, IN, & Leon Perkins, Shepherdsville; Beloved Caregiver: Doris Thompson, Munfordville.

In addition to her parents and spouse, she was preceded in death by Four Sisters: Esther & Dorothy Perkins, Ruby Piotrowski, & Alma Hall; Brother: Lester Perkins; & a Son-In-Law: Robert Wayne "Doc" Dennison.

Anna Mae Rowlett, 55, Munfordville, passed away Sunday, June 3, 2012, at Caverna Memorial Hospital in Horse Cave, KY. She was also a member of the Sunday School teacher, member of Woodsonville Voices, Kitchen Committee and Woodsonville Baptist Church.

She was the daughter of the late Lawrence Hodges and the late Dorothy Green Hodges

She is also survived by her husband: Johnny Rowlett; one daughter: L'Tanya Howard, Bowling Green; two sons: McQuinn Hodges, Munfordville, Shawn Torrey Hodges (Kelly), Bowling Green; three sisters: Sue Hodges, Munfordville, Martha Bradley, Munfordville, Sarah Hodges, Munfordville; two brothers: Larry Hodges, Munfordville, James Hodges, Munfordville; seven grandchildren.

Funeral service were held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, June 7, 2012 at Woodsonville Baptist Church. Rev. Stanford Dixon and Rev. K.T. Ford officiated. Interment was at Woodsonville Memorial Gardens, Munfordville.  Brooks Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Magnolia - James K. Skaggs, 75, Magnolia, passed away Thursday, June 7, 2012, at the Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM (ET), Sunday, June 10, 2012, at the Dixon-Rogers Funeral Home in Magnolia with Rev. Gerald Gardner  officiating. Burial followed in the Mt. Salem Church Cemetery, Hart County.

RUTH NUNN SLAUGHTER
Horse Cave - Ruth Nunn Slaughter, 103, Horse Cave passed away Monday June 4, 2012 at the Episcopal Church Home of Louisville. She was a farmer a bookkeeper for several Tobacco Warehouses in Horse Cave, a salesperson for Marcum & Woodward and a cashier for the Mammoth Cave Wax Museum.
She was a longtime member of the Horse Cave United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene Nunn & Bessie Harlow Nunn, Her beloved husband, Thea Forrest (Buster) Slaughter, a daughter, Fay Melloan, two sisters, Ruby Adams & Christine Galloway and by one brother, Otis Nunn.
She is survived by one daughter, Peggy Brownfield & her husband Philip, Bowling Green, four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren, son-in-law Kenneth Melloan, Horse Cave; also numerous loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday June 6, 2012 in the Chapel of Winn Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Horse Cave Municipal Cemetery. Winn Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

WALTER HENRY WALEWSKI
Glasgow - Walter Henry Walewski, 85, Glasgow died Sunday, June 3, 2012 at T. J. Samson Community Hospital. He was a native of New York, NY, the son of Wladislaw and Sophia Roseicki Walewski. He was retired from the Sorensen Mfg. Co. in Glasgow and was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. Mr. Walewski was a member of St. Helen’s Catholic Church in Glasgow.

He is survived by a daughter, Ann Byrnes, New York; one son, Michael Stewart, New York; 13 grandchildren including Ann LeClair, Florida, Maureen Sauer, Minnesota and Donald James Fennell, Florida, all formerly of Glasgow; several great grandchildren; great-great grandchildren; a brother, Edwin Walewski and two sisters, Dorothy Catania and Jennie Blumberg.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Marie Byrne Walewski; a daughter, Maureen Fennell; a brother, Richey Walewski and a sister, Adele Giest.

Funeral services were held 10:00 am Friday, June 8, 2012 at St. Helen’s Catholic Church with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery military honors were provided by DAV Chapter 20 of Glasgow.
